H. Gatti criticized L. Messi for missing the game due to injury.

Representing the Argentine national team at the 1966 World Cup, Hugo Gatti criticized the country's biggest star Lionel Messi for missing a friendly match against Spain due to injury.

Without their leader Jorge Sampaoli's pupils were crushed by 6-1, and the former goalkeeper thinks that the "Barcelona" sniper could have prevented that.

According to him, Messi's biggest rival Cristiano Ronaldo wouldn't have missed such minor problems like a strained calf muscle sitting on the bench.

"Messi had to play," Gatti told "El Chiringuito TV."

"People wanted to see you."

"Cristiano would have done it."

The longtime member of Buenos Aires' "Boca Juniors" also believes that everyone exaggerates the role of the five-time best player in the world.

"I don't think the team is made up of Messi. I don't believe in such things," Gatti added.

Nevertheless, many Argentinians will still have their eyes on the captain who has been showcasing impressive play for not just the first year this summer.
