H. Maguire on the incident in Greece: "I was afraid for my life" © JumpStory

"Manchester United" captain Harry Maguire received huge media attention last week, though not related to football at all. The 27-year-old footballer got into a conflict at a bar during his vacation in Greece and was arrested. Later, the England national team player was found guilty by a Greek court for assault, resisting arrest, and attempted bribery. However, the footballer appealed the court's decision and hopes to be completely justified. Maguire decided to share his experience in Greece in an open interview with the BBC, where he said he feared for his life. "I don't think I owe anyone an apology. You should do it when you do something wrong. I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone. Of course, this caused problems for one of the biggest football clubs in the world, but I really didn't do anything wrong. Something similar could have happened to anyone," Maguire said. The "Man Utd" captain also talked about the violence used against him by the authorities. "They hit my legs many times. I was in complete panic at the time. I feared for my life," added the footballer. Although there were discussions after the incident that Maguire might lose the captain's armband at the club, "Man Utd" stated that they have no intention of changing the captain.
