During the press conference that took place today, the club officially confirmed that the new team strategist is Harris Redknapp. The 57-year-old strategist signed a one-and-a-half-year contract.
On November 24, H. Redknapp left the position of head coach after two successful coaching years, stating that he wanted to take a break from football. However, somewhat unexpectedly, he decided to accept an offer from fierce rivals "Portsmouth."
"I am happy to be able to join 'Southampton'," said the strategist. "The team's lineup is better than its place in the 'Premier' league and I will aim to fix that."
In the role of head coach, H. Redknapp will replace S. Wigley, who led the club for just fourteen matches after the departure of Paul Sturrock. Under S. Wigley's leadership, "Southampton" managed to secure only one victory, which influenced the club management's decision to look for a new coach.
