Discussions in England continue regarding the match between "Tottenham" and "Liverpool" on September 30.

This match was not without controversial incidents, but the biggest resonance was caused by the disallowed goal by Luis Diaz in the 34th minute.

The "Liverpool" player was flagged for offside, which was confirmed by VAR. However, the video replay clearly showed that there was no offside in that episode.

It turned out that the VAR referee was convinced that there was no offside in the incident, so he confirmed that decision. Since the offside was indeed detected, the referee restarted the game with a free kick, and the VAR referee who noticed the mistake could no longer interfere in the game.

PGMOL (referees) association later even released an audio recording of the whole VAR and referees' communication.

Finally, the situation was commented on by PGMOL chief Howard Webb, who simply confirmed that according to the rules, changes cannot be made after the game has been restarted.

"After noticing the mistake, VAR referees discussed whether they could intervene in the game again or not. However, it was understood that according to IFAB rules, this was no longer possible."

It is obvious that all VAR procedures are described in the rules so that this procedure would be the same at all levels. Unfortunately, according to those rules, it was not possible to go back to that episode after the game was restarted.

"I understand that many questions arose for many. As far as I know, IFAB is planning to review the VAR protocol in the near future," said H. Webb in an interview with "Sky Sports."

The PGMOL chief also confirmed that the referee only found out about the mistake after the match ended.
