The vice-champion of England, London team, announced that they agree to terminate the contract of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, which had another year left, thus granting him free agent status.
The 32-year-old striker came to Chelsea in 2000, when he was bought from a Madrid club in Spain for a then-record 20 million euros. Since then, he has played 177 matches in England and scored 87 goals.
Last season, Hasselbaink finished as the top scorer for Chelsea for the third consecutive time with 17 goals. He also climbed to 10th place in the all-time top scorers list for Chelsea players, but even that did not secure him a place in the main team - last season he played only 22 matches.
In the Dutch national team, Jimmy Floyd made his debut in 1998 in a match against the Cameroon team and since then he has scored 9 goals in 23 matches.
Hasselbaink scored goals not only in the Chelsea club. He was the top scorer in other teams he played for before - playing 69 matches for one club, he scored 34 goals, and in 34 matches for Atletico he managed to score 24 times.
