The Senegal national team defender promised to link his future with an English club and signed a new three-year contract valid until 2009.
"I am happy at Wigan Athletic, playing the best football of my entire career," explained 29-year-old H. Camara. "I am a key player in the main team, get along well with the club's fans, and I believe that a partnership with Emile Heskey in the attack can bring great results to the club this season. Why should I leave the team when I have experienced so much here?"
"I never wanted to leave the club. I am ready to continue working with the coach, and I hope he understands how to provide the best for me as a player," the Senegalese player said. "Many of the players bought this summer convinced me that the club is truly moving in the right direction and can achieve a high position."
Wigan head coach Paul Jewell was pleased that H. Camara stayed.
"I spoke to him about a lot of things that happened a few weeks ago and discussed his situation. He knows what we think about him, how important he is to my plans, and that's why we offered him a new contract," the coach said.
Last season, the Senegalese player helped the club secure 10th place in the English Premier League and was the top scorer in his team.
