"Hearts" experienced failure in Glasgow © EuroFootball.com

On Saturday, the fifth round matches were played in the Scottish "Premier" League. The "Lithuanian" Edinburgh "Hearts" club experienced their first defeat this season, losing away to Glasgow "Rangers" and at home to "Kilmarnock" team. The second capital team "Hibernian" achieved their first victory, while two matches ended in a draw.

Edgaras Jankauskas, who has returned to the "Hearts" starting lineup, started the match with Saulius Mikoliūnas, but the injured David Česnauskas and Nerijus Barasas, as well as the recently added Marius Žaliūkas, were not in the Scottish club's lineup.

The match started with rapid attacks from both teams, but "Rangers" gradually took the initiative and started dominating the field. Jeremy Clement and Karl Svensson had shots near the goal, and after a penalty kick, goalkeeper Craig Gordon had to deflect Julien Rodriguez's attempt with his head. "Hearts" responded with a dangerous penalty kick by Bruno Aguiar, but at the end of the half, they had to defend against a one-on-one shot by Dado Pršo, which was saved by the goalkeeper, and a repeat attempt by Kris Boyd was blocked by Robbie Neilson on the goal line.

However, just a few minutes into the second half, "Rangers" took the lead - R.Neilson brought down D.Pršo in the penalty area and K.Boydas converted the penalty kick. The visitors were shaken and just two minutes later, after Lee Martin took a penalty kick, the same K.Boydas headed in his and the team's second goal.

This ultimately knocked out "Hearts", and after Taki Fyssas lost the ball in a tie, the visitors were saved by a shot from D.Pršo from afar. Valdas Ivanauskas' players could not recover, and a frustrating day was further complicated by injuries to Michal Pošpišil and Robbie Neilson earning a red card in the final moments of the match.

After this victory, "Rangers" rose to the top of the league table, surpassing the "Hearts" and "Falkirk" teams. The "Falkirk" team, which had taken the lead at home against "Kilmarnock" after Russell Latapy's goal in the 44th minute, saw Gary Wales equalize a minute later, and Paul Di Giacomo secured the win for the visitors three minutes before the end of the match.
