In the first two quarter-final matches of the Scottish Cup, there were no surprises - victories against lower division clubs were achieved by "Premier League" teams Edinburgh "Hibernian" and "Dunfermline", who advanced to the semi-finals. The bottom team of the first division "Queen of South" hosted the "Hibernian" team and conceded a goal just before half-time - David Murphy scored from long range for the visitors. John O'Neillas equalized with a header at the beginning of the second half, but just three minutes later Thomas Sowunmi restored the lead for "Hibernian" and secured a ticket to the cup semi-finals for the capital city team for the third consecutive year. Meanwhile, "Dunfermline", who eliminated defending champions Edinburgh "Hearts" in the round of 16, played against "Partick Thistle" at home and took the lead in the fourth minute after a goal from Stephen Simmons. At the end of the match, the visitors tried to equalize by putting pressure on the opposition's goal, but S. Simmons scored his second goal and sealed the victory for the hosts. On Sunday, another quarter-final match will take place between the top league teams "Inverness" and "Celtic", while on Wednesday, "Motherwell" will face "St. Johnstone" in the quarter-finals.
