The new head coach of the club is the Englishman Tony Mowbray, who decided to part ways with a similar position at the Edinburgh club.
The 42-year-old coach, who previously coached in the English "Championship" league with "W.B.A.," will replace Bryan Robson, who left the team by mutual agreement in September. T.Mowbray will start his duties on Wednesday, but will watch the team's matches against "Ipswich" and "Crystal Palace," both of which were in the "Premier" league last season and are currently in seventh place in the championship.
The club wants to thank Tony for all the work he did while working at "Easter Road" and wishes him and his family success in the future, as stated on the official "Hibernian" website.
In 2004, T.Mowbray became the strategist of "Hibernian" after a short period spent in the coaching staff at "Ipswich." This year, the coach declined to take over the latter team and signed a one-year contract with the Edinburgh club. However, upon receiving an offer from "W.B.A.," he asked "Hibernian" to allow him to leave, and the clubs agreed to this possibility with compensation.
However, the departure of the coach from "Hibernian" happened at a very inconvenient time - the team is facing its first derby of the season against the city rival "Hearts" on Sunday. Nevertheless, the coach of the latter team, Valdas Ivanauskas, stated that the loss of the strategist will not have a significant impact on them.
"A derby is a derby, there are no favorites. I'm not talking about the 'Hibs' players, I'm looking at my team and how we are prepared. Every derby is the same. Whether it's the Edinburgh derby, Hamburg, Munich, or Glasgow. I hope for a good fight," - said V.Ivanauskas.
"Hearts" have not won against their rivals at the "Easter Road" stadium for four years, but V.Ivanauskas didn't emphasize this fact, and after three victories against their city rivals last season, including a 4-0 win in the Scottish Cup semifinal, the coach is optimistic: "We lost both matches at the 'Easter Road' stadium last season. That's not good, and we have to change that. But everything was very positive at 'Tynecastle,' and the semifinal match was just perfect for us."
