Edinburgh's "Hibernian" club and Scotland national team forward Gary O'Connor should continue his career in Russia - on Monday evening the player left the Scotland national team camp before a friendly match with Switzerland and went to Moscow, where he will finalize details for a move to "Lokomotiv" club.

Talks about 22-year-old G. O'Connor's possible move to "Lokomotiv" started over the weekend. On Monday morning, "Hibernian" coach Tony Mowbray confirmed that his player received an enticing offer from the Russian club, and on Tuesday, Scotland national team coach Walter Smith admitted that he allowed the player to leave the team's camp.

"They asked us if he could leave for a medical examination, and we couldn't stand in his way. For "Hibernian" club, this will be a good deal financially, and it will give the young player the opportunity to sign a contract that he wouldn't get at any Scottish club," said W. Smith.

It is believed that G. O'Connor, who scored 14 goals this season and shared the title of the team's top scorer with Derek Riordan, will receive around 1.6 million pounds (about 2.4 million euros) for the transfer, while the player himself will earn about 16,000 pounds per month. If the transfer goes through, the Scot would become the first representative of his country in the Russian "Premier" league.
