Hitzfeld received an offer to train the "Chelsea" club (Updated) © EuroFootball.com

20:20 "Chelsea" officially denied that they offered a job to Ottmar Hitzfeld. Spokesperson Peter Kenyon stated: "It is completely untrue and has no basis. We have not offered anything to Ottmar Hitzfeld."

It should be noted that Ottmar Hitzfeld has a valid contract with Munich until the summer of 2005.

17:56 Current Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld does not deny that he recently received an offer to take over as head coach from current Chelsea coach Claudio Ranieri.

Hitzfeld admitted receiving such an offer but has no intention or ability to accept it, as his contract expires in 2005.

Bayern manager Uli Hoeness is hopeful that Hitzfeld will extend his contract with the Munich club, which last week exited the Champions League and is nine points behind the leading "Werder Bremen" team in the Bundesliga.

Ottmar Hitzfeld has won the Champions League with two different clubs: "Borussia Dortmund" and his current club, Bayern Munich.
