Hopes Alive: "Žalgiris" starts difficult match with minimal deficit brought to Vilnius © E. Žaldario

During the decisive stage of the UEFA Europa League selection round held on Thursday evening, in the first match of the Vilnius "Žalgiris" against Razgrad's "Ludogorets", the result was 0:1 in favor of the visitors. The hosts started the match very well. In just the 2nd minute of the match, "Ludogorets" scored the only goal of the match, when Ivan Tatomirovičius unfortunately sent the ball into his own net. In the first half, the Razgrad team completely controlled the course of the match and had very dangerous opportunities to double their lead, but the teams went into the break with Žalgiris trailing by one goal.

In the second half, the game leveled out, and Vladimir Čeburinas' players created a very threatening opportunity to equalize the score. Unfortunately, Renan Oliveira's shot from close range was blocked by the opponent's defender at the last moment. After coming on as a substitute, Donatas Kazlauskas received a red card in added time, so "Žalgiris" will have to play without the services of the Lithuanian in the return match. The second leg match will take place on August 25th at 19:00 at the LFF stadium.
