How much would D. Maradona and Ronaldo cost now? © JumpStory

In these times, no crazy amounts of money are spared for football stars, and yet a couple of decades ago, the situation in the player market was not so inflated. The "Goal" portal tried to calculate how much legendary strikers like Diego Maradona, Ronaldo, and other past celebrities could cost now. In 1982, D. Maradona was bought from the "Boca Juniors" club by the "Barcelona" team for 5 million pounds sterling, and taking inflation into account, it would now be 17.5 million pounds sterling. However, it would be a laughable amount when compared to other current deals, and the real value of the Argentinian player, considering his temperamental character, would be around 100 million pounds sterling. Pele, who spent almost his entire career at the "Santos" club, would be valued at 300 million pounds sterling. His compatriot Ronaldo, who in 1997 moved from "Barcelona" to Inter Milan for 20 million pounds sterling, would cost around 125 million pounds sterling - similar to Philippe Coutinho or Antoine Griezmann. Zinedine Zidane, who in 2001 was exchanged from Turin's Juventus to Madrid's Real for 47 million pounds sterling, would be valued at around 100 million pounds sterling.
