Former Tottenham coach Harry Redknapp claims that while coaching the club, he was close to acquiring Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois.
Both mentioned players now wear the Chelsea jerseys, but according to the coach, he tried to buy E. Hazard from Lille, and the Belgian national team goalkeeper, at the age of 17, could have joined Spurs for free.
"In Paris, I met with Eden and we spent four hours," the Englishman said. "He wanted to join Tottenham, but negotiations dragged on and it didn't happen."
"We also had to acquire goalkeeper Thibaut. At 17, he would have come to Tottenham for free, but this deal also dragged on, even though we were very close," H. Redknapp said.
The 67-year-old coach added, "If at that time we had acquired one or two new players, I believe we would have had a team capable of winning the Premier League."
