I. Casillas: I don't understand the purposes for which VAR (VIDEO, PHOTO) is being used

The World Cup final caused a huge uproar, in which even the most famous football stars engaged in their social networks.

France's national team defeated Croatia in the final with a score of 4:2, but there was a lot of talk about the first goal, as well as not everyone agreed on the penalty kick.

After the first goal, which Mario Mandžukić scored into his own net, Spanish football legend Iker Casillas wrote that the referee should have used the VAR system because there was no offside during the standard situation.

"To be honest, I do not understand the meaning of using VAR. There should not have been a offside before A. Griezmann, after which the first goal was scored. I do not understand why the referee awarded it," - said the goalkeeper.

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez also echoed him: "You are right, Iker. Paul Pogba, who was involved in the action of this goal, was also in an offside position."

The question raised by I. Casillas can be answered very simply - VAR reviews are not used if the offside is detected outside the penalty area, but this precisely shows a flaw in this system.

In turn, L. Suarez was wrong about the offside - from the replay, which was conveniently angled, it is clear that P. Pogba was not offside, but others saw that the Frenchman pushed M. Mandžukić before he tried to clear the ball.
