The contender to win this year's Bundesliga championship, Bremen's club, has once again extended the contract with Croatian national team striker Ivan Klasnić for another year.
The 27-year-old footballer's contract was set to expire at the end of this season, and his future with the Werder team was uncertain - various rumors circulated in the German media, especially when he has not played lately after a successful kidney operation.
The German magazine "Kicker" reports on its website that I. Klasnić has already accepted the new contract offered by the Werder club, with conditions identical to his previous player's agreement.
In November 2005, the Croatian underwent surgery for his intestines, although the striker continued to complain of abdominal pain. After a year break, kidney problems were diagnosed, and I. Klasnić underwent two kidney transplant surgeries, as the first one was unsuccessful.
The last operation, in which he received a kidney from his father, was performed in March. However, the striker has not yet returned to team training, and it has not been precisely determined when he will be included in the Werder squad again.
