Ivan Rakitic no longer hides his disappointment with the current situation at FC Barcelona.
The 31-year-old Croatian has been a solid starter since joining Barça, but this season his role in the team has changed drastically - he often doesn't even get off the bench.
"How can I enjoy football?" - rhetorically asked I. Rakitic.
"I have said many times that the feeling is the same as when my daughter's toy is taken away. She becomes sad, just like I am now. They (Barcelona) took the ball away from me. I feel very bad," said the footballer in a conversation with Jorge Valdano.
For some time now, Rakitic has been linked with a move to the Serie A. Clubs like Juventus, Milan, and Inter have shown interest in him. As revealed by the Croatian, he still feels that he can play at the highest level.
"I understand and respect the decisions made by the coach, the club, or someone else, but in the last five years I have given a lot to this club.
These have been the best years of my career. All I want is to continue enjoying the game. I am not 38 years old, I am still at the peak of my career," added Rakitic.
