International Football Association Board (IFAB) has made an important decision.

From July 1, the rules for goalkeepers will change when opponents are taking penalty kicks.

From now on, goalkeepers will not be able to touch the goalposts, net, or delay the time when the opponent is standing and preparing for this standard situation.

Goalkeepers will also not be allowed to unfairly provoke penalty kick takers or perform actions that show disrespect to the player standing at the 11-meter mark.

IFAB had to take these measures after the World Cup, where the Dutch goalkeeper Andries Nopper and current world champion Emiliano Martinez were notorious for their provocations.
