Iker Casillas denied the rumors spreading about a possible transfer to another club next summer and firmly stated that he wants to spend the remaining part of his career at Real Madrid.
The Spanish national team goalkeeper is waiting for a new contract offer from his current club, as his contract expires at the end of this season. However, the club has not taken any formal steps to start negotiations with Iker Casillas.
Delays from Real Madrid on extending the goalkeeper's contract have prompted speculation in the media that the renowned goalkeeper could be lured by well-known European football clubs with a large sum of money. Additionally, Iker Casillas himself stated last week that the possibility of him staying at Real Madrid is only around 60%.
Despite Victor Valdes being in excellent form, football club Barcelona has been linked to Casillas if Real Madrid does not offer a new contract, but the goalkeeper himself stated that the rumors are "not everything."
"Barcelona? There's nothing between us," he said. "I have long said that I want to stay at Real Madrid more than anything."
"There are no possibilities of me moving to another club. It is normal that the contract extension is being postponed. There are always two sides that need to sit down and talk and come to an agreement about everything, but I am confident that we will reach an agreement and I will continue playing in Madrid.
"Real Madrid is the club where I grew up and the team where I want to finish my career. I believe they want me to stay, and I have started to think about it," said I. Casillas.
