In a Card-Designated Battle – Draw Between ‘Sūduva’ and ‘Kaunas Žalgiris’

In the postponed "TOPsport A League" match, the weapons clashed in Suvalkija as Marijampolė's "Sūduva" faced "Kauno Žalgiris". Although the visitors were in the lead, after Vilius Armanavičius received his second yellow card, the Marijampolė team equalized the score – the duel ended with a result of 1:1 (0:0).

In the first half, the teams exchanged dangerous moments – a strong shot by Artem Fiodorov and a strike by Tautvydas Burdzilauskas were stopped by Deividas Mikelionis, while Giedrius Zenkevičius defended against Vilius Armanavičius' attempt.

In the 39th minute, Artūras Dolžnikovas unexpectedly received the ball in the penalty area; however, he only earned a corner kick from a rather difficult situation. A few minutes later, Igoris Maksimovičius shot from a long distance near the goal, to which Gratas Sirgėdas responded in kind.

At the start of the second half, Tautvydas Burdzilauskas fouled in the penalty area, and Vilius Armanavičius, standing at the 11-meter mark, was accurate.

In the 77th minute, Vilius Armanavičius was shown a second yellow card, and just a minute later the score was equalized – after a corner taken by Rokas Filipavičius, Darius Stankevičius, completely unmarked, sent the ball into the close corner of the goal. At the end of the match, Klavs Kramensas headed the ball, but it went over the goal.

After this match, the Kaunas team firmly holds the 3rd position in the league table with 45 points, while the Marijampolė team has 24 points and ranks 8th.
