During extra time, there were no goals, but at the end of the additional 30 minutes, Kevin Trapp, the goalkeeper of "Eintracht", fantastically saved a shot from Ryan Kent, extending the match to an 11-meter penalty shootout. This was the second European trophy in the history of the Frankfurt team. The "Rangers" suffered their second defeat in the Europa League final in 14 years. 14 years ago, the Glasgow club lost in the final to the "Zenit" team, and the following season they were eliminated from the Champions League qualifiers when they lost to FBK Kaunas. This victory opened the way for the "Eintracht" team to the UEFA Champions League.
