Another ticket to the semi-finals was won by the Burkina Faso national team, which took a step closer to its best result in the African Cup of Nations history. In the quarterfinals, Burkina Faso defeated Tunisia 1-0. The winning goal was scored by Dango Ouattara in added time of the first half. At the end of the match, in the 82nd minute, the same D. Ouattara received a red card for rough play, but after this episode Tunisia failed to equalize the score and force extra time. In the quarterfinals, Tunisia eliminated one of the tournament favorites, Nigeria, but being the favorites themselves in this quarterfinal, it put more pressure on them than freedom for this North African team. In the semi-finals, Burkina Faso will face either Senegal or Equatorial Guinea.
