In Birštonas started the Lithuanian beach football championship

In the 2024 STIKLITA Lithuanian beach soccer championship, which started over the weekend in Birštonas, Kupiškis, "Narjanta" and BSC "Kaunas" each won three victories and share the first two positions after the first stage.

The schedule of the competition was slightly disrupted by the "Dembava" team, which did not appear in Birštonas.

"On Thursday, the disciplinary committee decided on the fate of "Dembava". A decision was made to count three technical defeats for the missed matches, but to allow the championship to continue," - commented beach football coordinator Karolis Dieninis on the decision.

In the first season matches, the multiple champion "IGOL" club from the capital defeated the novice footballers from "Panevezys" 2:1. Vasilijus Novičkovas scored the winning goal in the final minutes of the match.

Shortly afterwards, the Kupiškis "Narjanta" and Mažeikiai "Olimpo SC" teams also started the new season. Kupiškis won 8:2, scoring half of the goals in the third half of the match. Vilius Bukauskas and Redas Graičiūnas each scored three times for the winners.

Soon after, the newcomer BSC "Kaunas" defeated IGOL club 5-0. In this match, before the end of the first half, Elvinas Navickas scored the first goal of the match, and as the clock was counting down the final seconds of the match - and the last one. This way, E. Navickas recorded a double.

In the second round of matches, the "Narjanta" and "Panevezys" teams took to the field. The seasoned champions of the league scored five goals in the first half alone, causing great difficulties for the newcomers. The Panevezys team led by player-coach Jonas Lebedevas managed to reduce the gap, but could not avoid defeat. Vilius Bukauskas and Darijus Jakšys scored three goals each for the winners, J. Lebedevas - 2 for the losers.

The third round started with an "IGOL" victory against the "Olimpo SC" team. Starting the match very successfully, the residents of Vilnius built a three-goal lead, which the Mažeikiai team neutralized by the middle of the third half. However, the more experienced representatives of "IGOL" managed to secure a more successful end to the match. The goals of Aleksandr Lebedev and Vasilijus Novičkovas guaranteed them the second victory of the season.

The first stage of the championship ended with a hard-fought victory for "Kaunas" against "Panevezys". In the clash of the two newcomers, Benas Spietinis and E. Navickas created a two-goal advantage for the Kaunas team, but in the middle of the third half, J. Lebedevas equalized. The Kaunas team ran out of time for a more successful end.

After the first stage, "Narjanta" and "Kaunas" each collected 9 points. "IGOL" has 6 points, "Olimpo SC" - three, while "Panevezys" and "Dembava" have no points. The second stage of the championship will be held on July 20th in Kupiškis.
