The president of the football club and four players died in Brazil when a small plane crashed in northern Brazil, in the state of Tocantins, lrytas.lt reported. In total, six people died in the crash: Lucas Meira, president of the "Palmas Futebol e Regatas" team, football players Lucas Praxedes, Guilherme Noe, Ranule, and Marcus Molinari. The pilot, identified by the media only as Mr. Machado Wagner, also died. The tragedy occurred on the airport's takeoff runway when the plane attempted to take off, but crashed to the ground and caught fire. The Brazilian Football Confederation expressed solidarity with the relatives of the "Palmas" members and team fans, and also ordered a minute of silence to honor the victims during all Sunday matches. The "Palmas Futebol e Regatas" club was founded in 1997 and plays in the fourth Brazilian league.
