Without Aitor Karanka, "Middlesbrough" hosted "Manchester United", who played in the Europa League on Thursday. Jose Mourinho's team achieved a tough victory with a score of 3-1.
In the 30th minute, Marouane Fellaini put the "Red Devils" ahead with a header after a great pass from Ashley Young.
In the second half, "Man Utd" extended their lead to two goals in the 62nd minute, when Jesse Lingard punished the sloppy defending of "Middlesbrough" with a great shot.
However, in the 77th minute, the hosts managed to reduce the deficit, as Rudy Gestede scored a goal. "Middlesbrough" tried to fight back, but Antonio Valencia sealed the deal at the end of the match.

In other matches, "Tottenham" hosted "Southampton". Mauricio Pochettino's team secured a 2-1 victory after a tough battle.
In the 14th minute, Christian Eriksen put the hosts in front, and Dele Alli extended the lead from the penalty spot in the 33rd minute. Despite "Southampton" pulling one back early in the second half, the visitors couldn't find another goal and the hosts celebrated the win.
"Tottenham" now has 59 points and sits in second place, while "Southampton" remains in tenth place.
