The guests took the lead at the end of the first half - Neal Maupay scored in the 44th minute. The Hammers equalized the score in the 60th minute, when Benjamin Johnson sent the ball into the net. Brighton once again took the lead in the 70th minute after Lewis Dunk's goal, although the same defender unsuccessfully played near his own goal in the 82nd minute, when Tomas Soucek equalized the score.
