Not long ago, Mathieu Valbuena, once considered a legend of the "Marseille" club, is now the number one enemy of his former fans.
The French national team midfielder played in Marseille from 2006-2014 and during that time became probably the most prominent figure in the club's history. After leaving the club, "Marseille" honored M. Valbuena by removing the 28 number jerseys worn by the iconic club hero.
However, everything changed last summer when after a season spent at Moscow's "Dynamo", M. Valbuena returned to France and put on the rival "Lyon" jersey in front of "Marseille" fans.
Furthermore, the Frenchman recently took his former employers to court, who are already going through tough times, for unpaid wages.
This pushed the patience of "Marseille" fans to the breaking point, and during the match against "Lyon" with the constant booing, objects thrown from the stands, fireworks, and staged "hangings", the fans made it clear what they think of M. Valbuena. Due to the danger to players, the match was even briefly suspended.
Additionally, according to some reports, he confronted "Marseille" assistant coach Franck Passi in the tunnel, and the assistant was restrained by his teammate Michy Batshuayi from more aggressive actions.
