In January "Steaua" will fight for the retention of G.Arlauskis © JumpStory

The leader of the Romanian football league Bucharest's "Steaua" is ready to fight for the Lithuanian goalkeeper Giedrius Arlauskis. The 27-year-old footballer can freely choose another team during the January transfer window and "Steaua" understands that it will be difficult to keep the Lithuanian in its ranks. Former Kazan "Rubin" goalkeeper joined the Romanian club in 2014 and played 14 national championship matches. During them, the Lithuanian conceded only 7 goals and kept the goal "dry" 8 times. Speaking to the portal sport.ro, "Steaua" club president Valeriu Argaseala said that G.Arlauskis has more than one offer from Western European clubs, with which it would be difficult for the Romanian club to compete. "We will talk to Arlauskis if he does not receive a financially better offer from Europe. If not, we will try to negotiate an extension of the contract," said V.Argaseala. According to sport.ro, G.Arlauskis already has a replacement in mind - Cluj CFR goalkeeper Mario Felgueiras. According to the Italian media, the 1.5 million euro-valued G.Arlauskis is being followed by the "Serie A" playing Fiorentina club, which may lose goalkeeper Beto after the season.
