In Marijampolė - tough draw

The 18th round ended in Suvalkija, where Marijampolė's "Sūduva" and "Kauno Žalgiris" played a productive match. The Kaunas team, who were trailing twice, managed to equalize the goal deficit and play a draw 2:2 (1:1) with the local team.

Already in the first minute of the match, a goal was scored - Ivan Zotko headed excellently after Zygmantas Baltrūnas' corner kick. In the 5th minute, another corner kick led to a skirmish near Giedrius Zenkevičius' goal, but the home team managed to extinguish the fire.

However, after playing almost half an hour, the Marijampolians lost the injured Stevas Lawson, and shortly after, an equalizing goal was scored - David Martin Anane successfully converted a penalty kick.

At the start of the second half, Nidas Vosylius committed a foul in his penalty area, and standing at the 11-meter mark, Ernestas Burdzilauskas did not miss. However, "Sūduva" did not lead for long - in the 55th minute, Nidas Vosylius broke through several opponents and scored a long-range shot, thus equalizing the mistake that occurred near their own goal.

Just a few minutes later, Deividas Mikelionis had to come to the rescue, as he immediately saved Ivan Zotko's header after another corner kick. In the 78th minute, a threatening situation was created by the duo of Motiejus Burba and Henri Uzochukwu, but the foreign player's shot went over the goal. In added time, M. Burba attempted a long shot, which was successfully repelled by the opponent's goalkeeper.

As the battles of the "TOPsport A lyga" continue, the green and white team holds the 4th position with 25 points, while the Marijampolians have collected 20 points and are in seventh place.
