In Spain - "Barca" crushed "Getafe" © EuroFootball.com

After playing part of the 11th round of matches in the Spanish championship on Sunday, there were no major surprises. Madrid's "Real" defeated "Zaragoza" at the end of the match thanks to the only goal scored by Roberto Carlos, while "Barcelona" crushed the struggling "Getafe" 3-0 in Madrid. Wins were also secured by "Mallorca" climbing from the bottom of the table and successfully competing this year's Vigo "Celta", defeating "Cadiz" and "Alaves" respectively.

Two matches ended in draws with a score of 1-1. Unexpectedly, La Coruna's "Deportivo" did not win against "Malaga" as visitors, while "Racing Santander" took away two points from Seville's "Real Betis", competing in the UEFA Champions League.

The match between "Sevilla" and Madrid's "Atletico" ended goalless.

In front of 73,000 spectators, "Real" managed to defeat the strong "Zaragoza" team at the end of the match. The newcomer Robinho became the true hero of the match, earning two penalty kicks in the closing minutes: in the 76th minute, a doubtful penalty kick was awarded, and despite a failed attempt by the Brazilian to convert it, he was given another one just three minutes later. This time, Roberto Carlos stepped up to take the kick and scored the winning goal with a powerful strike.

Despite a dominant second half from "Real" towards the opponent's goal, goalkeeper Iker Casillas managed to keep a clean sheet.

However, amidst the victory, "Real" also suffered some sad news - in the 23rd minute, Englishman Jonathan Woodgate sustained an injury. The defender, who had recently made his debut for "Real" after recovering from a serious leg injury almost a year ago, this time suffered an Achilles tendon injury. Due to this injury, the defender will undoubtedly miss the upcoming friendly matches of the England national team against Argentina next week, and the full extent of the injury will only be known after further tests. Worth mentioning, the player recently stated in an interview: "Luck is on my side now" and suspiciously struck a tree three times.

Defending champions "Barcelona" achieved an impressive 3-1 victory in Madrid against the surprise team of the season, "Getafe".

From the very first minute of the game, after a mistake in "Getafe" defense, Sylvinho passed the ball to the top scorer of "La Liga" Samuel Eto'o, who struck the ball straight into the corner of the net. Although "Getafe" had several chances to level the score, Barcelona doubled their lead in the 62nd minute through Ludovicas Giuly, who received an unselfish pass from S.Eto'o. Just eight minutes later, Portuguese player Thiago Motta made it three, striking the ball over the wall into the corner of the net.

However, the highlight of the match and a serious contender for the "Goal of the Year" was the goal scored by "Getafe" defender Miguel Pernia right at the end of regular time. His goal from over 25 meters left no chance for Victor Valdes and went straight into the top corner.

Despite a late appearance in extra time by young Argentine Lionel Messi after a substitution, the result remained unchanged, and the Catalonia superclub, after securing three points, climbed to second place in the league table.

It's worth noting that during these matches, "Getafe" coach Bernd Schuster was expelled from the stands at the start of the second half. Moreover, later on, the referee instructed the match commissioner to call the coach on his mobile phone and order him to move further away from the pitch.
