After disastrous matches in Liverpool, "Barcelona" returned to the path of victories by defeating Madrid's "Getafe" at home and complicating their chances of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.
The victory for the Catalans was led by Arturo Vidal and an own goal by the opponent.
Madrid's "Atletico" drew at home with "Sevilla", for whom a victory was also necessary to fight for the fourth position.
These stumbles of the opponents were used by "Valencia" to secure a place in the top four until the last round, defeating "Alaves" 3:1 at home.
Real Madrid's club had to accept their 11th season failure. After conceding a goal by Brahimo Diaz, the "Whites" were left to play with ten men from the end of the first half and could not withstand the pressure from "Real Sociedad" – a Basque victory with a score of 3:1.
In other matches, "Girona" suffered a bitter defeat and withdrew from the championship. The Catalans who had the advantage conceded a second goal at the end of the match and ended their journey in the "La Liga" championship.
Along with "Girona", "Rayo" and "Huesca" will also drop to a lower division next season.
