In the A League – 'Bangos' Victory

The 25th round of the "TOPsport A Lyga" began with a match in Gargždai – the local team "Banga" celebrated a victory after four consecutive winless matches. David Afonso's squad defeated Marijampolė's "Sūduva" 1:0 (0:0).

In the first half, there was a lot of action in the middle of the field. Early in the match, Giedrius Zenkevičius had to work once as Airesas Sousa struck from a good position.

The visitors created a promising opportunity in the 13th minute – during a counterattack, Roko Filipavičius managed to suppress the breakaway by successfully defending Mantas Bertašius. Throughout the rest of the half, both teams parted ways with fairly harmless shots.

The only and winning goal for the hosts was scored in the 50th minute. Dovydas Norvilas provided a comfortable pass to A. Sousa, who scored for "Banga" for the second time.

The Gargždai team defended quite confidently; however, M. Bertašius had to catch the balls after shots from Henry Uzochukwu, Igor Maksimovičius, and Artiom Fiodorov. D. Afonso introduced 18-year-old Erik Kirjanovas, who debuted this season, into the game at the end.

With 31 points, "Banga" moved up to 5th place, while the Marijampolė club has not won nine consecutive matches and remains in 8th place with 23 points.
