This week, the group stage of the UEFA Champions League concluded. 16 clubs secured their spot in the quarterfinals, which will be particularly competitive this season.
All clubs from the top five strongest countries in terms of football leagues - England, Spain, Italy, France, and Germany, advanced to the next stage.
England and Spain have four representatives each, Italy and Germany have three each, and France has two. In the modern Champions League, it has never happened before that only the representatives of the strongest European leagues made it to the quarterfinals.
The quarterfinal stage promises to be filled with intriguing matches, especially because clubs like Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, and Tottenham finished second in their groups.
The quarterfinal draw will take place next Monday at 13:00 Lithuanian time. The 16 clubs will be divided into eight pairs.
The matches of this stage will begin in the summer of next year and will end on March 18th.
