In the courts - the ongoing battle of the LFF against a fan of C. Ronaldo © JumpStory

Last autumn's incident at the LFF stadium reverberated around the world. During the European Championship qualifying match between the Lithuanian and Portuguese national teams, Cristiano Ronaldo's fans Audrius Gadeikis invaded the field, knelt before his idol, and made it into headlines of portals. However, this story cost the Lithuanian Football Federation dearly - UEFA imposed a €10,000 fine. While the fans are not ready to compensate for the damage suffered by the LFF, our country's football officials have decided to seek financial compensation through legal means. The fight, however, is still ongoing. Journalist Marius Bagdonas from the 15min portal reported that at the end of January, the Plungė district court granted LFF's request and seized the fan's property, leaving room for financial transactions. A. Gadeikis did not agree with this verdict and finally, at the beginning of April, the Klaipėda regional court overturned the decision. "We trust our lawyers and believe that we will be able to recover the losses. UEFA deducts this amount automatically from the revenues we transfer. The fine - has been paid, and now we have to rely on legal processes," LFF Secretary General Edgaras Stankevičius told 15min.lt journalist M. Bagdonas.
