The Italian national team became the first among the participants of the European Championship to secure a place in the knockout stages. In order to achieve this goal, Roberto Mancini's players had to defeat Switzerland at the Rome stadium, and the Italians did so confidently. Winning 3-0 against one of the favorites of the tournament even before the last match in Group A, Italy can rejoice in a ticket to the quarterfinals. Locatelli finished D. Berardi's pass. At the beginning of the second half, the same M. Locatelli doubled the lead with an excellent long-range shot - 2-0. The scoring in the match was completed by striker C. Immobile, who saddened Y. Sommer with a powerful shot as if fired from a cannon.
