In the FIFA elections, S. Blatter faced a serious competitor.

Former Barcelona and Real Madrid player Luis Figo will try to overthrow long-time FIFA president Sepp Blatter.

"I care about football, so the image of this organization, which I have seen over the past few years, I do not like," said the Portuguese on the last day of submissions (Thursday - author's note).

"If you search for the word 'FIFA' on the internet, you will see that the most commonly associated words are scandal, other negative expressions. That is why we must first change the organization's image," Figo said.

"Football deserves much more than it has now."

"I have spoken to many players, coaches, federation presidents and everyone thinks something needs to be done. We need to change leaders, management, ensure transparency and solidarity, that is now the most important thing."
