The Shanghai Shenhua club, having signed a contract with Nicolas Anelka, have set their sights on another London striker, Didier Drogba.
The Frenchman has not trained with an English team for some time, and on Monday he put his signature on a two-year contract worth over 200 thousand euros per week.
Drogba, who will also become a free agent this summer, could follow his example. Negotiations for the extension of his contract have so far been unsuccessful.
"Drogba is an amazing player. If players of such caliber are willing to come to China, we will start negotiations," said Shanghai Shenhua owner Zhou Jun. "However, Didier is of interest to many clubs."
A few weeks ago, the agent of the Ivory Coast national team star said that his client will play where he is offered the highest salary.
