Former member of the Serbian youth national teams Lazar Kojičius has signed a contract with FC "Hegelmann" from Kaunas County.
The 24-year-old player, who plays as a defensive midfielder and stands 190 centimeters tall, arrives in the temporary capital from the Serbian SuperLiga club "Voždovac."
According to the footballer, his decision to choose "Hegelmann" was influenced by the fact that the club is currently showing very good results. "First of all, I saw that the club is very well organized. Of course, my decision was also influenced by the fact that the team is currently successfully competing both in the Lithuanian championship and in the cup competitions. This proves that the blue and whites are really doing well," said the midfielder.
L. Kojičius started his professional career at "Brodarac" in his native Belgrade, Serbia, and at the beginning of 2018, after 16 years, he was noticed by "Fortuna" from the Netherlands, which had returned to the "Eredivisie." The Serbian struggled to find his place in the Dutch club—initially, due to age restrictions, he was loaned to various clubs in Serbia, and later, after sustaining an injury, he returned home to revive his career.
In the summer of 2020, he agreed to terms with "Proleter" from Novi Sad in the Serbian SuperLiga. In this team, the blue and white newcomer played 53 matches and scored 1 goal over two seasons.
During the 2022-2023 season, L. Kojičius played for "Radnički" in the Serbian second division, but in the last season, he returned to the top league representing the club "Voždovac." Last year, the midfielder appeared on the pitch 19 times in both the Serbian championship and cup competitions, providing three assists.
The blue and white newcomer has also played for Serbia's youth national teams, having been called up six times to the U19 team and once each for the U17 and U18 teams.
"First of all, I would describe myself as a team player. I want to help the blue and whites as much as possible. I know my place on the field, and I will do everything to be useful to the team. I don't like to praise myself, so I will let others talk about me, and of course, my results on the pitch will say everything about me," said L. Kojičius.
The Serbian shared his first impressions of the team and the upcoming climax of the season in the championship and cup competitions. "Yes, it can be a difficult time to adapt right now, but over these past few days, the guys have welcomed me so well that it feels like I've been here for a long time. As a player, I want to do everything I can to help the team and win as many matches as possible. The season is reaching its peak, the tension is rising, but I really hope that we will succeed in defeating our opponents and achieving our goals."
L. Kojičius has become the third new signing for "Hegelmann" this summer. Earlier, the team was joined by two Nigerian legionnaires, Rasheed Yusuf and Samson Ajayi. The Serbian will be able to make his debut in the upcoming "TOPsport A lyga" match, which will take place this Saturday in the Kaunas derby.
