In the opening match of the "Copa America," hosts defeated Ecuador (VIDEO)

Last night in Chile, the South American championship started with a match between the hosts and the Ecuadorian national football team.

The Chileans, considered favorites, threatened the opponents' goal from the very beginning of the match and controlled the ball almost twice as long, but ultimately only celebrated a hard-fought victory.

The home team managed to score the first goal only in the 67th minute, when Turin's "Juventus" star Arturo Vidal scored after a questionable penalty kick.

It was a turning point in the match. Chile's team did not let go of the initiative from their hands, and at the end of the match, after the break, Eduardo Vargas sealed the victory.

However, in the 90th minute, Matias Fernandez received a second yellow card, but it did not affect the outcome of the match.

Result:

Chile 2 - 0 Ecuador

[1-0] 67' Arturo Vidal (from a penalty kick)

[2-0] 84' Eduardo Vargas

90' Matias Fernandez (Chile) sent off from the field
