The dramatic European Championship qualifying match ended with a draw - Lithuania played 2:2 with Montenegro.
In the 22nd minute, Gvidas Gineitis struck the ball strongly next to the goal. Towards the end of the first half, Arvydas Novikovas had the most dangerous opportunity for Lithuania, but his shot was blocked by Milana Mijatovic.
Shortly after, Montenegro also had their dangerous moment. Vukan Savicevic broke away from the defenders, but Edvinas Gertmonas showed heroism.
In the 57th minute, Nikola Krstovic sent the ball into the goal after a header. After a VAR review, the goal was disallowed and the result remained level.
In the 71st minute, after a great pass from Fedor Chernych, Gytis Paulauskas opened up well and defeated the Montenegrin goalkeeper - 1:0.
After 7 minutes, Nikola Krstovic equalized the score - 1:1.
During the rest of the match, the Lithuanians were again in dangerous positions, but failed to make a shot on goal. Meanwhile, on the other side of the pitch, Edvinas Gertmonas saved the day.
However, even the goalkeeper of "Žalgiris" was powerless in one situation. After a corner kick, the ball fell conveniently to Stefan Savic, and he "pushed" the ball past the goal line - 1:2.
But even the goal by Montenegro's captain was not the end. In added time, Fedoras Chernychas extended the lead for Lithuania with a fantastic shot - 2:2.
At the very end of the match, Lithuanian footballers managed to break away on a counterattack, but it ended in nothing. After a tumultuous match, gaining a point seems sweet, though.
