On Monday, the draw for the Lithuanian Football Federation Cup quarter-finals revealed the pairs of battles for the second most prestigious prize in Lithuania, extended into April by eight clubs from the "A League."
The most intriguing pair includes the country's champion Panevėžys "Ekranas" and Vilnius "Vėtra," who will attempt to compete for the highest prizes this year. The first leg matches will take place on April 1st at 18:00 at the Vilnius "Sportimos" arena, while the return leg of the quarter-finals will be held on April 12th in Panevėžys.
Despite the tough task ahead, "Vėtra" coach Edgaras Gessas expressed satisfaction with the draw: "This will be a great opportunity to test our strength. Who else to test the team's abilities with, if not the country's champion? This will be a great opportunity."
Runner-up "Kaunas" will face Klaipėda's "Atlantas," in a Vilnius derby "Žalgiris" will meet "Vilnius," and Marijampolė's "Sūduva" will take on Kėdainiai's "Nevėžis," the previous season's "A League" underdog.
