In the Russian national team - a 30-year-old goalkeeper from Brazil

Russia's national football team during friendly matches with Lithuania and France intends to try out Brazilian-born goalkeeper Guilherme. The 30-year-old goalkeeper is one of the several players to whom Russia plans to grant citizenship.

Since 2007, Guilherme has been playing for the Moscow team "Lokomotiv" and now has a chance to become the second goalkeeper of the Russian national team, replacing Moscow's CSKA goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev.

However, Guilherme first has to make an impression during friendly matches with Lithuania and France. The match with Lithuania will take place in Moscow on March 26, and three days later, the Russians will play against the French.

In addition to Guilherme, Russia also plans to grant citizenship to German-born Ukrainian Roman Neustaedter. He plays as a defensive midfielder for the "Schalke" team. Russia also wants to have Brazilian right-back Mario Fernandes from Moscow CSKA in the national team.

Russia hopes that these players could strengthen the defense, which has been faltering in recent years. Younger players would also become a counterpart to the veterans.
