After lunch on Sunday, another four matches of the 24th round of the Spanish "La Liga" championship were played.
A surprising blow was dealt to the Madrid "Real" team, which had previously won five consecutive victories in the country's championship. Starting the first half excellently, the "whites" fell asleep in the second half of the match and conceded two goals, admitting the opponents' advantage.
In the 25th minute, Casemiro headed the hosts in front. "Real" had several dangerous opportunities in the first half, but did not take advantage of them.
In the second half, "Girona" was much more dangerous and posed a threat to the "white" team's goal from the beginning.
In the 65th minute, "Girona" equalized the score when Christian Stuani converted a penalty from 11 meters. Sergio Ramos was penalized for handball in the penalty area.
After this goal, the visitors did not intend to retreat and continued to press the "Real" footballers. In the 75th minute, "Real" suffered another blow - Thibaut Courtois saved the first opponent's shot, but the ball comfortably landed to Portu and he scored for the first time in these matches, bringing "Girona" ahead.
In the 90th minute, S. Ramos was shown another yellow card for dangerous play, so he will have to miss the next round match.
After this defeat, "Real" most likely ended any dreams of fighting for the title. The Madrid team dropped to third place and increased their gap from "Barcelona" to nine points.
