In the Spanish "La Liga" championship, five matches of the 5th round were played on Saturday.
After two unsuccessful matches, Madrid's "Atletico" football players returned to the path of victories. Diego Simeone's players surpassed the other team from the same city - "Getafe" was defeated with a score of 0:2.
In the 14th minute, after a powerful shot by Thomas Lemar, the ball flew into the goal from the goalkeeper's hands and "Atletico" gained the advantage. "Getafe" tried to equalize and posed a serious threat to Jan Oblak's goal, but all formalities were settled in the 60th minute - the same T. Lemar scored another goal.
"Getafe" ended the match in ten, while "Atletico" secured three points, temporarily allowing them to rise to the fifth position.
In other matches, "Alaves" defeated "Rayo Vallecano", Vigo's "Celta" secured victory in a high-scoring match against "Real Valladolid", and "Eibar" won by a narrow margin against "Leganes".
In the last match of the evening, Madrid's "Real" narrowly defeated Barcelona's "Espanyol". In the 41st minute, Marco Asensio scored the decisive goal leading to a 1:0 victory.
In the second half, "Espanyol" threatened the hosts, who had played three matches in the past few days. The team lineup did not undergo many rotations, so some players struggled in the second half.
However, "Espanyol" lacked sharpness in their attacks, allowing "Real" to secure a hard-fought victory. This victory temporarily lifted the "white" team to the first position.
