UEFA organization plans to create a new seasonal tournament. As reported by "Bild", this could happen as early as 2021.
The tournament will complement the currently held Champions League and Europa League competitions.
It is said that the number of teams in the latter league will be reduced from 48 teams to 32.
This would mean that 16 excluded clubs would participate in the new tournament, with a total of 32 participants. How it will be possible to qualify for the new league is still unclear.
Let us remind you that at the end of the last century, a third UEFA tournament was also held, called the Winners' Cup - in the last final in 1999, Rome's "Lazio" club triumphed with a score of 2:1 over "Mallorca".
