In W. Rooney's debut match - an assist and a "Derby" victory

Wayne Rooney started his career at Derby County with a victory.

The 34-year-old footballer, who reached an agreement with Derby County at the end of the summer, officially debuted as soon as the winter transfer window for players opened.

In the 26th round of the second-tier English league, Derby County defeated Barnsley 2-1. W. Rooney contributed to the first goal by making an assist to Jack Marriott.

The opponents equalized at the beginning of the second half, but Derby soon scored their second goal.

W. Rooney will wear the captain's armband in this match and for the rest of the season.

The former England national team striker played in the MLS for DC United until October.

Derby County, which was managed by Frank Lampard last season, currently occupies the 17th position in the Championship. There are a total of 24 teams competing in the league.
