The Madrid "Real" attempt to buy the promising Argentine Martín Benítez ended in failure.
The "Independiente" team announced that they rejected the offer from the Spanish super club, as the "La Liga" team would not have allowed the 21-year-old forward to play in the main squad.
Benítez has held an important place in Mauricio Pellegrino's schemes since his debut in 2011.
"We decided not to accept the offer, as 'Real' would have sent the talent on loan to another team, supposedly providing the opportunity to gain more experience.
"Martín is already a player of very high level and has potential, so he must play immediately in the new club," said team vice president Noray Nakis.
