Indonesian Ambition: National Team Coach sees J. Mourinho

Indonesia's Minister of Sports, Imam Nahrawi, stated that he would like to invite Jose Mourinho to coach the national football team.

In the FIFA ranking, Indonesia occupies the 185th place, and since last year the country has been removed from international competitions due to interference in the activities of the Indonesian Football Federation.

Nahrawi said that he discussed Mourinho's candidacy and a possible salary of about 16 million euros per year with Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

Last December, the 53-year-old Portuguese was sacked from London's "Chelsea" just seven months after leading the club to the top of the English championship.

According to bbc.com, the Minister of Sports hopes that Mourinho could "awaken the fighting spirit of Indonesian football players."

Meanwhile, the head of the Indonesian Olympic Committee, Erick Thohir, mentioned that if Mourinho is not interested in the offer, another famous strategist - Dutchman Guus Hiddink - will be invited to the national team.

In April, Indonesian leaders met with FIFA President Gianni Infantino and hope that sanctions against the country's football can be lifted during this month's FIFA congress.
