As reported by the Lithuanian Football Federation, on Wednesday after the training of the Lithuanian national team, it was decided that the injured Vilnius "Vėtra" defender Aidas Preikšaitis will be replaced by Edinburgh "Hearts" defender Marius Žaliūkas on the trip to the Faroe Islands for the dramatic "A League" match against Klaipėda "Atlantas."
However, the 36-year-old veteran A. Preikšaitis will travel to friendly matches in Kuwait, where he will be joined by Klaipėda "Atlantas" defender Andrius Gedgaudas. Meanwhile, former "Kaunas" player M. Žaliūkas was already in the national team during the matches against Italy and Scotland at the beginning of September, but did not play then.
As we have already announced, national team coach A. Liubinskas also decided not to invite Vilnius striker Aivaras Laurišas and instead chose Kaunas forward Ričardas Beniusis. Also, injured Edgaras Jankauskas, Tomas Radzinevičius, and Povilas Lukšys will not be included in the Lithuanian team from the preliminary list of forwards.
