International Olympic Committee - against FIFA plans © JumpStory

The International Olympic Committee has spoken out against FIFA's plans to host the World Cup more frequently. The leader of the latter organization, Gianni Infantino, is considering the idea of inviting the best national teams on the planet to a football party not every four years, but every two years. "Many international other sports federations, as well as clubs, players, their associations, coaches have expressed their concern upon hearing such FIFA plans, which are primarily aimed at generating more income. With more frequent world championships, it will "cut" with other sports. This will affect tennis, cycling, golf, gymnastics, swimming, "Formula 1" and others. This would harm the diversity and development of other sports," - stated in the IOC press release. Earlier, UEFA and CONMEBOL leaders also expressed their disagreement with G. Infantino's idea.
